Terms of Service

Last updated: April 24, 2026
SquareLog is a tool for organizing and analyzing information you already possess. Nothing in this service or these Terms constitutes legal advice, and no attorney-client relationship is created by your use of SquareLog.

1. Who We Are

SquareLog ("SquareLog," "we," "us," or "our") is a software-as-a-service platform developed and operated by Steven Ackley, a Connecticut resident. SquareLog is not a law firm. We do not employ attorneys in a capacity that creates any professional relationship with you, and nothing we provide constitutes legal advice.

Questions about these Terms can be directed to [email protected].

2. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using SquareLog, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email and by posting a notice in the application. Your continued use after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance.

3. Eligibility

You may use SquareLog only if you:

  • Are 18 years of age or older;
  • Are using the platform in connection with your own family law matter or to assist in organizing evidence in support of legal representation in such a matter;
  • Are located in the United States; and
  • Are not prohibited from receiving services under applicable law.

SquareLog is designed for Connecticut family court matters governed by Connecticut General Statutes Title 46b, though you may find its organizational and drafting features useful in other jurisdictions. We make no representation that the platform's legal knowledge base (the "Corpus") covers statutes, rules, or precedent outside Connecticut. Always verify any generated content against current law in your jurisdiction.

4. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access. We reserve the right to suspend accounts showing signs of unauthorized use.

You may not create accounts on behalf of others, share login credentials, or use automated tools to create accounts in bulk.

5. Your Data

You own everything you put into SquareLog. We make no claim to ownership of your SitRep entries, uploaded documents, notebook drafts, or declarations.

Export: You may request a full export of your data at any time by contacting [email protected]. We will deliver your data in a structured, machine-readable format (JSON and/or PDF) within 30 days of your verified request.

Deletion: You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal data and content within 30 days, subject to retention obligations described in our Privacy Policy (e.g., records required for fraud prevention or legal compliance).

Security: We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, described in our Security Policy. No internet transmission is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach affecting your account, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

6. What SquareLog Is — and Isn't

SquareLog helps you log events, organize documentation, retrieve relevant legal information from the Corpus, and draft declarations in your own words. It does not:

  • Provide legal advice or legal strategy;
  • Create an attorney-client relationship;
  • Guarantee any outcome in your legal proceeding;
  • Replace consultation with a licensed attorney; or
  • Serve as a legal record-keeping system with evidentiary authentication.

Content generated by SquareLog's AI features (declaration drafts, intelligence summaries) is a starting point for your own review, editing, and attorney review — not a final legal document. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and appropriateness of any documents you file with any court.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use SquareLog to:

  • Fabricate, alter, or misrepresent evidence;
  • Harass, threaten, or surveil any individual;
  • Violate any applicable court order, including orders restricting contact with the opposing party or minors;
  • Collect or process data about minors in violation of applicable law (COPPA and equivalents);
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the platform;
  • Upload content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights; or
  • Use the platform for any purpose other than organizing and presenting your own lawfully obtained information in connection with a legal matter.

Violation of these provisions may result in immediate account suspension and, where required, disclosure to law enforcement.

8. Termination

By you: You may close your account at any time. Closing your account terminates your right to use the service and triggers our data deletion schedule.

By us: We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, including for violation of the Acceptable Use provisions. For non-material breaches, we will provide notice and a reasonable opportunity to cure before termination. We may terminate the service entirely on 90 days' notice to registered users, during which you will retain the ability to export your data.

9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI-GENERATED CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SQUARELOG'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) FIFTY DOLLARS ($50). IN NO EVENT WILL SQUARELOG BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability for consequential damages, so some of the above may not apply to you.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms that cannot be resolved informally will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state or federal courts located in Hartford County, Connecticut, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

11. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Security Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and SquareLog regarding the service and supersede any prior agreements. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
